I want a small emergency kit for ordinary problems: a power outage, burst pipe, minor cut or unexpectedly being stuck at home for a day. Search results quickly turn into survivalist shopping lists. I'm thinking flashlight, charged battery pack, basic first aid, water, important contact numbers and a way to shut off utilities. What simple item have you genuinely needed during a routine household problem, rather than a dramatic disaster scenario?

A headlamp or a bright little flashlight is one of those things that feels silly until the power goes out and both hands are busy. I’ve used mine more for finding the breaker box than for anything dramatic.
Phone charger too, honestly. I had a battery pack in a drawer for ages, then one day the power flickered for half a day and it suddenly looked like a genius purchase.
I’d keep the utility shutoff info in the same place as the first aid stuff. Not because you’ll need it often, but because when you do, you do not want to be hunting around the internet while standing in water.
Do you mean printed on paper, or saved in the phone notes too?
